El Alfa Drops “Soto Shuffle” Music Video Just in Time for MLB Postseason
As the postseason heats up, there’s a new anthem that baseball fans—especially Yankees supporters—can rally behind: “The Soto Shuffle” by dembow superstar El Alfa and producer Foreign Teck. The track, which pays homage to Juan Soto’s signature pre-pitch move, is quickly becoming the soundtrack for the 2024 American League Division Series.
There's nothing more intimidating for a pitcher than seeing Juan Soto get into his rhythm at the plate, shuffling his feet and staring down those 60 feet 6 inches. Now, that iconic moment has a theme song to match. “The Soto Shuffle” is more than just a song; it’s an energetic tribute to Soto’s unique style and flair. With a call-and-response section, the track has already started to pump up Yankees fans as they prepare for the team’s matchup against the Royals this Saturday.
As the Yankees look to make a deep run in the playoffs, Game 2 of the ALDS will feature the perfect opportunity for fans to embrace the new anthem. ALDS Game 2, presented by Booking.com, will be broadcast today at 7:30 p.m. ET / 6:30 p.m. CT on TBS, truTV, and Max.
El Alfa and Foreign Teck, the duo behind the song, are avid baseball fans themselves. El Alfa, known for his high-energy beats and catchy lyrics, shared his excitement about creating a song inspired by one of his favorite athletes. In a recent interview on MLB Network, El Alfa, with the help of translator Yonder Alonso, shared his passion for baseball:
“MLB has always been on my mind,” El Alfa said. “I’m a huge fan of the game. My No. 1 player is Juan Soto. That’s the reason the ‘Shuffle’ came around. This is what I love: I love the game of baseball; I watch every night. There’s nothing better than to give back to my people and my roots.”
The Dominican superstar has made a name for himself with chart-topping hits and collaborations with some of the biggest names in Latin music. But his love for baseball is just as intense as his passion for music. Earlier this year, El Alfa was spotted at Fenway Park receiving a custom bobblehead from the Red Sox. His collaborator, Foreign Teck, is no stranger to the game either. Teck’s music video released earlier this year featured Mets stars Francisco Lindor and Edwin Díaz, further cementing his connection to MLB.
Soto, who has used El Alfa’s music as his walk-up songs in the past, met the musician for the first time back in 2020. Their friendship has grown since then, leading to memorable moments like playing the “Newlybros” game together. Fast forward a few years, and now Soto has his own anthem to score his postseason journey.
“The Soto Shuffle” not only serves as a celebration of Juan Soto’s talents but also as a nod to the deep connection between baseball and Latin music culture. With El Alfa’s infectious beats and Soto’s unmistakable energy, the track is sure to become a staple at ballparks and playlists alike.
